Active Backup Expert stores backups in the standard ZIP format, so in addition to ABE you can use any ZIP compression tool to operate with Active Backup Expert-made backup files.

Active Backup Expert supports inclusion and exclusion of files by wildcard mask as well as by exact file name. So new files, matching an entered mask, will be included to or excluded from a new backups without any care.

Within Active Backup Expert you can store as many backup versions as you wish.

You can browse files stored in any backup, view them and even open them with a default system editor.

Using command line arguments you can order ABE to create or restore a backup without any interaction with you. It lets to use ABE in any automation utility to make scheduled backups.

ABE supports an ActiveX Automation, so you can control it within your own application.

New Features in version 1.60:

You can chose what folder the ABE will store your projects in. Now the projects you create are placed to the Projects subfolder by default. The shortcut for this folder is added to ABE's Start menu group.

You can Drag-n-Drop files and folders from Windows Explorer to the Included or Excluded Mask lists to add an Included or Excluded Mask to the opened or being created project.

Now you can select the Dial-Up Networking Connection to be used unattendedly when the ABE needs to go online.

The New Logging style helps you to see what is actually happening within the program. The log is displayed on the Log tab of the main window.

Now filling the Files tab takes place only on user-activation of this tab.
